Chamber Music Weekends
We are delighted to launch our new Chamber Music Weekends for adult amateur string players and pianists.
These weekends are designed to offer amateur musicians the chance to step away from everyday routines, spending time immersed in chamber music in the peaceful Suffolk countryside. Set within the beautiful surroundings of Leiston Abbey, participants will have the opportunity to rehearse, explore, even do some yoga or take a trip to the seaside, and enjoy a wide range of chamber repertoire in a relaxed, supportive environment with nourishing home-cooked food.
During the weekend, players will work in small ensembles, with time for rehearsals, informal coaching, and plenty of music-making. Our aim is to create an enjoyable, sociable atmosphere where musicians can deepen their musical understanding alongside like-minded players.
For many musicians, Pro Corda courses have been formative musical experiences. These weekends offer a chance for alumni to recapture some of that atmosphere – the joy of intensive music-making, shared discovery, and late-night musical conversations – while also warmly welcoming new participants who would like to experience the spirit of Pro Corda for the first time.
The course is offered as a two-night residential stay, with the fee including full room and board at the Abbey, with non-residential places also available.
We welcome registrations from players of a wide range of standards and will aim to place musicians into groups of similar experience to ensure a rewarding, fun time for everyone.

Upcoming Weekends

Heath Quartet
10th - 12th July 2026
“The Heath Quartet’s prayerful concentration really paid off in a performance of unforced beauty and tremulous tension, dappled with sudden shadows and anguished nostalgia for happier times. Each player listened closely to each other; each fell in with Schubert’s feelings as a hand fits the perfect glove.” The Times
“The delicate perfection of the sound was a marvel..” Daily Telegraph

Brook Street Band

“Ensemble so pin-sharp it merits a safety warning” – BBC Music Magazine
“There’s something that’s really warm, effortless and relaxed about a Brook Street show. The musicians clearly enjoy each other’s work, as of course do we, the audience! Lovely programming, great musicianship…” Petworth Festival
