Children in Need Weekends

Pro Corda & Children in Need

Pro Corda are proud to be supported by BBC Children in Need. We have been fortunate enough to secure three-year grant funding for performing arts weekends for children with additional needs and disabilities living in the UK up to the age of 18.

Pro Corda Children in Need Music Theatre weekends are booked by families and carers for individual students. Currently Pro Corda offers Children in Need Musical Theatre weekends in three locations. You can book online by choosing the location that most suits you below.

“We couldn’t be prouder at this time especially when she hated drama in school and would refrain from even raising her hand in class. To perform on stage a solo like that makes me very proud.”

What happens during the weekend?

Each weekend is based on the Create Together ethos which you can read about by clicking the link. This immerses participants in the magical world of Musical Theatre to develop leadership and responsibility through communication and creativity to build confidence and self-esteem.

Participants of the Children in Need courses develop social skills and are given the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with other young people outside of their immediate social circle.

“Elizabeth has benefitted so much from the weekends at Pro Corda and we want to thank you and all the team who have helped her become more confident in her ability to stand on a stage and sing. We especially appreciate the fact that you allowed her to sing her solo. She worked so hard, in the weeks leading up to the performance, learning her words and we know how important it was for her to have so many of her friends supporting her.”

Arts Award Explore Qualification

Pro Corda are proud to be a registered arts award centre and delighted to be able to offer participants of the Children in Need weekends the opportunity to compile arts logs to be submitted for Arts Award Explore qualification. You can find out more about the award by clicking the logo.

Pro Corda believe that music is an area where children with additional needs and disabilities can truly excel and are thrilled that we can offer our participants the opportunity to achieve this entry level three qualification.

“What brilliant arts logs! I loved seeing the young people’s creative development, and their very thoughtful reflection on their journeys… an excellent Explore programme, very well done to all concerned!”
(John Riches, Arts Award Moderator)
