Keith Daley
was a pupil of Pamela Spofforth and attended the second ever Pro Corda course in 1970. As with
most Pro Corda students this experience ensured
that Chamber Music became an important part of
his life. He has continued to play viola as
soloist and in various chamber groups. His three
children all play stringed instruments and have
attended Pro Corda courses regularly.
A Cambridge graduate, Keith Daley has wide
business experience. He started his career in
the City and is now a professional investor
specialising the trading of derivatives. He has
experience of running a number of small
businesses and is a director of Elektron plc the
AIM quoted components manufacturer.
He is Chairman and a Director of
Pro Corda Ventures Limited.
John Ette
has been involved in cultural heritage management
for over 20 years and has worked for a number of
organisations including Cambridge University and the
British Museum. He is currently Team Leader at
English Heritage responsible for managing nationally
important listed buildings, ancient monuments, parks
and gardens and conservation areas in Suffolk and
Bedfordshire. He is a Historic Properties and
Ancient Monuments Inspector by profession advising
on the preservation, public enjoyment and
understanding of English Heritage properties as well
as all privately owned nationally important ancient
monuments in the two counties. His mother was an
artist and his father a writer and he and his family
have a special interest in the performing arts.
Guy Hopkins
has been Director of Music at Westminster School
since 1996. He has conducted many orchestral, opera
and choral performances there and also in St John's,
Smith Square and Westminster Abbey. He has played an
important role in the creation of a major new music
department facility, the Manoukian Music Centre which was opened by Sir Roger Norrington in February
2005.
He also works as a freelance conductor and has been
Associate Conductor of Camden Chamber Orchestra for
8 years. He has worked with solo instrumentalists
such as Douglas Cummings and Joanna McGregor, and
singers Rosalind Plowright, Donald Maxwell, Paul
Whelan and Jennifer Smith.
John Papadakis is a partner in
the international law firm Jones Day where he
specialises in employee benefits. He qualified
as a solicitor in 1987 after completing a degree
in French and then coverting to law.
His wife and three daughters are all passionate
about music and play a variety of instruments,
including the piano, violin, viola, guitar and
cello. His eldest daughter attended Pro Corda
for several years and his middle daughter
currently attends and loves Pro Corda. John
says that sadly his musical talents are
restricted to musical appreciation but he is
highly skilled in transporting children to music
lessons, courses and concerts. In between he
indulges his passion for football and tennis and
loses himself in the garden whenever he can.
Sarah Falk
has been a partner at Freshfields, a leading city
law firm, since 1994. She is a Cambridge law
graduate and now specialises in corporate tax. In
her youth a keen musician (she is a flautist) Sarah
now concentrates more on the time consuming musical
activities of her two children. Both of them attend
Pro Corda: the elder has been through each of the
courses from Prep to Intermediate, and the younger
now attends the Primary Course. In any spare time
she can find, Sarah enjoys horse riding, reading and gardening.
Liz Winter is Director of Development and Communications and a Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.
She has a life-long interest in music and is a supporter of several orchestras and ensembles. She enjoys organising concerts in Cambridge as well as attending as many as possible.
Her background is in financial journalism and in more recent years, in fundraising and education. Apart from music her interests extend to photography and writing. She is married and has two daughters, both at university.
Jane Fenoulhet is Professor of Dutch Studies at University College London and until recently also Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. She lectures and writes on Dutch culture and literature, language learning and on the humanities. Her experience as a senior manager in Higher Education is now at the disposal of Pro Corda.
Jane has been an active musician since childhood. She is keen singer and pianist and has sung with many choirs, most recently as member of the St Paul's Chorus. She is involved with Pro Corda's activities for pianists, such as the Adult Piano Weekend. She loves opera and chamber music and tending her Suffolk garden.
Graham Bowler Graham Bowler is an information technology consultant with many years of senior management experience in blue chip multinationals. He holds a B.Sc. from Bristol University and is a Chartered Member of the British Computer Society.
He is a keen amateur pianist and particularly enjoys playing chamber music. He devotes a lot of his time to supporting musical organisations, and in addition to Pro Corda he is a trustee of the Amersham Festival Society, a co-organiser of the Wycombe Piano Festival, and Music Secretary of the Oxford and Cambridge Musical Club.
After reading music at the University of York, Nigel Yandell was awarded a university scholarship to Oxford where his research focused on eighteenth-century instrumental music. He went on to work in investment banking/asset management, holding senior positions with Enskilda Securities, BZW, Hill Samuel Asset Management and BNP Paribas as Chief Investment Officer in London.
An experienced pianist, musicologist and teacher, Nigel has contributed to the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, among other publications. Elected a Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge in 2001, he has been both Bursar and Senior Researcher in Music. Formerly a director of the London Sinfonietta and Palace Opera, Nigel is Senior Treasurer of the University Opera Society and a director of the Cambridge Union Society.
