The qualities that are looked for in the audition are innate musicianship, a sound basic technique and enthusiasm.
The requirements are as follows:
- Two pieces in contrasting style and tempo.
- Scales and arpeggios with various bowings.
- Suitable sight reading.
- Aural and general musicianship tests
Overseas applicants may send a recording if a visit to Britain is not possible.
Sometimes individual auditions may be arranged at Leiston whilst courses are taking place. In exceptional circumstances, auditions may be organised at the convenience of the Course Director at any time before the course deadline. Please contact the office for further details.
